Scientific & Technical is introducing high-purity enzyme enquiries for selected individual products. Researchers and development teams can now request a quotation for a preparation matched to their purity, activity, formulation and analytical requirements.
The new Request High-Purity Enzyme option connects customers with our technical team from the individual enzyme catalogue and matching Enzyme Shop products. Each request is assessed before price, achievable specification and lead time are confirmed.
Purification selected for the enzyme
Our purification options include nickel affinity chromatography, anion exchange chromatography and size exclusion chromatography. These complementary approaches allow us to discuss a route suited to the protein and the intended application:
- Nickel affinity chromatography: selective capture for compatible enzymes, particularly recombinant proteins carrying an appropriate histidine tag.
- Anion exchange chromatography: separation based on charge under selected pH and salt conditions.
- Size exclusion chromatography: separation by hydrodynamic size, useful for polishing and resolving differently sized protein species.
The method or combination is chosen for the enzyme. Not every preparation requires all three steps, and nickel affinity is not applicable to every native enzyme.
SDS-PAGE verification, with optional mass spectrometry
Purified preparations are assessed by SDS-PAGE to examine the protein profile. Where required, mass spectrometry (MS) can provide additional evidence of protein identity, using an agreed analytical approach.
We define numerical purity claims together with the measurement method. Protein purity, catalytic activity and unwanted side activities are separate considerations: SDS-PAGE or MS alone does not prove that an enzyme is active. Activity requirements and additional testing can be discussed during quotation.
For research and specification-led development
A purified preparation may be useful for enzyme kinetics, substrate-specificity studies, protein characterisation or biochemical assay development, where background components could interfere with the result. We can discuss tagged or untagged requirements, buffer composition, quantity and the documentation needed for your project.
A target such as 99% protein purity is assessed for the particular enzyme and analytical method. It is not a standard guarantee across the range. The quotation confirms what can be supplied.
How to request a quotation
Choose an eligible individual enzyme and click Request High-Purity Enzyme, or send a high-purity enzyme enquiry. Tell us your required quantity, application and target purity or activity. Include any need for tag removal, a particular formulation, SDS-PAGE data or optional MS analysis.
